Ring Nebula, NGC 6720, Const: Lyra, Type: Planetary Nebula, Mag: 9,
Size: 1.4'x1'
- 2002-Sept-13 - HX916 image of M57 (f/6.3, Meade LX10, an LRGB of
9:10:10:10 minutes of exposure (9x1 L unbinned at f/10 from
July 10th, 5x2 binned 2x2 RGBs), STV guided, dark and flat
frames applied to all, from home with a lot of ambient light
pollution (including a quarter-moon in the same side of the
sky) and high humidity [transparency 4, seeing 6, tracking
1.2X, 1.7Y @ 1.0 sec]). Processing: AIP (calibration,
stacking), MaxIm (L user-defined transfer function), AIP
(LRGB combined, G2V then Black Sky color balanced with full
L stretch), PaintShop Pro (cropped, unsharp masked (2,
100%), rescaled 4X). A wide-field version of the same
shot. IC 1296 is faintly visible to M57's upper right in the
widefield image.
- 7/10/02 - HX916 image of M57 (f/10, 9 minute total exposure
[a stack of 9 1 minute images], STV guided, binned 2x2, dark
and flat frames applied, two rounds of default slow R-L
deconvolution and simple contrast stretch performed in AIP,
from OCA's Anza site [seeing 6, transparency variable 4-7,
tracking 2.5X, 2.1Y @ 0.7 sec]).
- 7/21/01 - STV image of M57 (f/3.75, Meade LX10 at prime
focus, track and accumulate (10 of 20 seconds), zoom mode,
from LBV).
- 9/23/00 - STV image of M57 (f/3.75, Meade LX10, track and
accumulate (7 of 10 seconds), zoom mode, from LBV). This
still isn't that great, but it is much better than the image
below (Aug 26).
- 8/26/00 - STV image of M57 (f/3.75, Meade LX10, track and
accumulate (10 of 5 seconds), zoom mode, from LBV).
- Digitized Sky Survey image of M57 for
comparison.
