G11, Halpha luminance of 190 minutes of exposure (19x10
minutes unbinned from Oceanside from Oct 2003 and several
nights in late July 2004), STV and SXV guidehead guided
through ST80, darks applied to HX9 subframes, no calibration
applied to H9 subframes). Processing: AIP (dark calibration
and stacking of HX9 images), MaxIm DL (stacking of H9 images
and H9 w/ HX9 stack), Photoshop (levels and curves).
- 2003-Oct-12 - HX916
image of M27 (Meade LX10 OTA at f/10 on
G11, an Halpha-filter luminance of 70 minutes of exposure
(7x10 minutes unbinned from Oceanside), STV guided, only
darks applied. Processing: AIP (dark calibration and
stacking).
- 2003-July-26 - HX916 image of
M27 (~f/4.6, Meade LX10 OTA on
G11, an LRGB composite of 40:10:10:10 minutes of exposure
(8x5 L unbinned from Anza, 10x1 RGBs binned 2x2 from
02Sep01), STV guided, only darks applied, [seeing 6, transp
4-6 tracking 0.9X, 0.9Y @ 1.0 sec]). Processing: AIP
(calibration and stacking, color registration, color
balance: G2V then Black Sky).
- 2002-Sep-09 - HX916 image of
M27 (~f/4.6, Meade LX10, an LRGB
composite of 20:20:20:20 minutes of exposure (10x2 L
unbinned from Sept. 1 at Anza, 10x2 RGBs binned 2x2 from
tonight at Anza), STV guided, only darks applied to RGBs,
[seeing 6, transparency ~20.58 mag./sq-arcsecond for RGBs
(69% r.h.), tracking 1.6X, 1.5Y @ 1.0 sec]). G2V Color
balanced then Black Sky balanced in AIP.
- 2002-Sep-01 - HX916
image of M27 (~f/4.6, Meade LX10, an LRGB
composite of 20:10:10:10 minutes of exposure (10x2 L
unbinned from Sept. 1 at Anza, 10x1 RGBs binned 2x2 from
Aug. 29th at home), STV guided, dark and flat frames
applied, [seeing 8, transparency ~18.27 mag./sq-arcsecond
for RGBs and 20.47 mag./sq-arcsecond for L, tracking 1.3X,
1.0Y @ 1.0 sec]).
This is my first shot through new
Astronomik filters. The improved color balance is evident.
- 2002-Sep-01 - HX916
image of M27 (~f/4.6, Meade LX10, 20
minutes of exposure (10x2 Astronomik Clear filter (IR
blocking) unbinned from Anza), STV guided, dark and flat
frames applied, [seeing 8, transparency 20.47
mag./sq-arcsecond for L, tracking 1.3X, 1.0Y @ 1.0 sec]).
- 2002-Aug-10 - HX916 image of M27 (f/5.2, Meade LX10, an LRGB
composite of 5:20:20:20 minutes of exposure [RGB's from this
night, the L shot taken 2001-Oct-18], STV guided, binned 2x2,
dark and flat frames applied, from Anza (OCA) [seeing 8,
transparency 7, tracking 1.8X, 1.6Y @ 1.0 sec]).
Note: I
finally figured out why all my RGB shots of M27 show very
green inner nebulosity - it's the fact that I'm currently
using Wratten visual filters with terrible relative coverage
of the OIII emission line at 500nm. This is right on the
border of all Blue and Green filters and the Wratten blue
filter's response is very close to zero while the Wratten
green filter's response is much higher. Hence, very green
color balance rather than a more subdued blue/green
coloration.
- 7/10/02 - HX916 image of M27 (f/3, Meade LX10, 10 minute
total exposure [a stack of 10 1 minute images], STV guided,
binned 2x2, dark and flat frames applied, simple contrast
stretch performed in AIP, from OCA's Anza site [seeing 6,
transparency variable 5-6, tracking 1.4X, 1.0Y @ 1.0
sec]).
- 10/17/01 - HX916 image of
M27 (f/6.3, Meade LX10, an LRGB image
[5:7:7:7 minutes, (5x1 minute luminance, 7x1 minute each with
R, G, and B filters), STV guided, binned 2x2, dark and flat
frames not applied, cropped to 320x200, from LBV). The color
balance isn't very good but the filter slide that I have isn't
light tight so I think I got some spurious light pollution
while I was taking these exposures.
- 10/17/01 - HX916 image of
M27 (f/6.3, Meade LX10, 5 minute
total exposure [a stack of 5 1 minute images], STV guided,
unbinned?, dark and flat frames not applied, Digital
Development Processing (DDP) applied in AIP, from LBV).
- 5/25/01 - STV image of M27 (f/3.75, Meade LX10, track and
accumulate (7 of 30 seconds), wide mode, from Big Bear
(RTMC'01)).
- 9/23/00 - STV image of M27 (f/3.75, Meade LX10, track and
accumulate (3 of 30 seconds), normal mode, from LBV).
- 8/26/00 - STV image of M27 (f/3.75, Meade LX10, track and
accumulate (10 of 7 seconds), normal mode, from LBV).
