image of M20 (f/5.4, Televue TV101,
an LRGB composite of 80:20:20:20 minutes of exposure
[combination of 16 5 minute unbinned images and 4 5
minute 2x2 binned RGBs], Processing: Maxim (noise
filter, alignment, stacking, 2X resize of RGBs, color
combine and balance), from Anza [seeing 7,
transparency 7, guided with SXV guidehead at 170mm on
ST80 guided through MaxIm])..

image of M20 (~f/4.6, Meade LX10, an
LRGB composite of 40:10:10:10 minutes of exposure
[the 20 x 2 minute unbinned L shots were taken
Aug. 12th, and 5x2 minute RGBs taken tonight through
Astronomik filters, all from Anza], STV guided
[seeing 6, transparency ~20.58 mag./sq-arcsecond at
zenith for RGBs, tracking 2.2X, 0.7Y @ 1.0 sec for
RGBs], only darks applied to the RGBs, the L stack
was log scaled across the full range, the RGB stacks
were each resampled 2X to match the L image size, and
then color combined using AIP's equalized color
balance).

guided [seeing 6, transparency ~20.47 mag./sq-arcsecond at
zenith for RGBs but smoke seriously degraded S/N this low,
tracking 1.5X, 1.5Y @ 1.0 sec for RGBs], dark and flat frames

M20 (f/5.2, Meade LX10, an LRGB
composite of 40:30:30:30 minutes of exposure [the 20 x 2 minute
unbinned L shots taken this night, and a total of 30 x 1 minute
2x2 binned RGB images from August 6th and 10th], STV guided,
dark and flat frames applied, the L stack was log scaled across
the full range, the RGB stacks were each resampled 2X to match
the L image size, and then color combined using AIP's equalized
color balance, from Anza (OCA).
Note, all the bright little
red stars are due to my Red filter not blocking the near
infrared and these little red stars are radiating light in that
band.
- 4/13/02 - HX916 image of M20 (f/6.3, Meade LX10, 20 minute
total exposure [a stack of 10 2 minute images], STV guided,
binned 2x2, dark and flat frames applied, AIP default
deconvolution, simple contrast stretch, from LBV [seeing 6,
transparency 8]).
- 07/21/01 - Prime focus shot
of M20 (f/6.3, Meade LX10, 30 minutes autoguided with STV
using its eFinder, Fuji Superia 800 X-Tra, from LBV). The
seeing was terrible this night, hence the large stars.
- 06/15/01 - Prime
focus shot of M20 (f/6.3, Meade LX10, 20 minutes autoguided
with STV using its eFinder, Fuji Superia 800, from LBV).
- 05/26/01 - High resolution scan from the full-frame photo (210mm@f4, 30 minutes
piggybacked on LX10 autoguided with STV, Fuji Superia 800,
at Big Bear (altitude 7600', during RTMC'01)). The bright
hourglass-shaped object in the lower right is Mars!
- 08/26/00 - High
resolution scan from the 210mm film photo (210mm@f4, 20 minutes
manually guided, Fuji Superia 800, 08/26/00, LBV).
