M1
Crab Nebula, NGC 1952, Const: Taurus, Type: Nebula, Mag: 8.4, Size: 6'x4'

2004-Dec-11 - SXV-H9 image of M1 (Meade LX10 OTA at f/5.2 on G11,
an HaLRGB composite of 130:70:39:30:34 minutes of exposure,
SXV guidehead at 170mm on ST80 guided through MaxIm, no
calibration, unbinned Ha and L from LBV (seeing 6, transp 5
(85+% humidity)), 2x2 RGB's from Nov 13th (LBV), Processing:
MaxIm (align, combine, resize RGBs, LHaRGB, combine Ha L
50/50, Ha R 50/50, color combine using HaL HaR G B), Neat
Image (noise reduction using 40%). Note that if you look
closely to the right and a little above the center of M1 that
you'll see a dim red, green, blue streak. I think that this
is the asteroid 37846 1998 DV6.
2003-Aug-30 - HX916
image of M1, (LX10 OTA at ~f/4.6 on G11, 60
minute total exposure [a stack of 6 10 minute unbinned
Halpha filtered images], STV guided, from Anza [seeing 5,
transp 7]). Processing: AIP (stacking), PaintShop Pro
(cropped).
2003-Jan-04 - HX916 image of
Saturn occulting M1 toward the end
of the occultation (f/10, Meade LX10, stack of 30 30 second
images through an OIII filter, binned 2x2, STV guided, from
Anza (seeing 8, transp 5, tracking 0.8X, 0.9Y @ 1.0
sec)). Processing: AIP (dark and flat calibration,
stacking), MaxIm (DDP:LowPass-Hard, linear brightness and
contrast stretch, convert to JPG). Sorry about all the
reflection artifacts.
2003-Jan-02 - HX916 image of
Saturn prior to occulting M1 taken
2 days prior to the occultation (f/4.6, Meade LX10, LRGB
composite of 5:5:5:5 minutes of exposure (all 5x1 minutes
binned 2x2), STV guided, from Anza (seeing 4, transp 9,
tracking 2.3X, 2.8Y @ 1.0 sec with 10-15 mph
winds)). Processing: AIP (dark calibration, stacking, color
registration, color balanced using G2V and then Black
Sky). The same image but with Saturn exposed correctly
composited with the above image.
1/12/02 - HX916 image of M1 (f/6.3, Meade LX10, 22 minute
total exposure [a stack of 11 2 minute images], STV guided,
binned 2x2, only dark frame applied, from LBV). Taken through
a red filter in an attempt to highlight the filamentary detail
within the nebula. You might notice some thermal artifacts here
and there in the image. I couldn't find a good stock dark
frame that adequately removed the thermal signature of the
camera.
11/14/01 - HX916 image of M1 (f/6.3, Meade LX10, 30 minute
total exposure [a stack of 10 1 minute exposure, 5 2 minute
exposures, and 2 5 minute exposures], STV guided, binned 2x2,
only dark frame applied, Gaussian deconvolved in AIP, from
LBV)
3/28/01 - STV image of M1 (f/3.75, Meade LX10, track and
accumulate (4 of 30 seconds), wide mode, from LBV).
9/30/00 - STV image of M1 (f/3.75,
Meade LX10, track and accumulate (8 of 15 seconds), normal
mode, from LBV). This one is a lot better than the one below,
both with respect to detail and signal to noise ratio.
9/23/00 - STV image of M1 (f/3.75, Meade LX10, track and
accumulate (4 of 10 seconds), wide mode, from LBV).
